Frequently Asked Questions About UGREEN DXP2800
A two-bay DXP2800 is enough for home backup, photo libraries, personal files, and a modest media server when two drives provide sufficient capacity. Run two drives in RAID 1 and you get the usable capacity of the smaller drive, with your data protected if one drive fails. Two-bay models support Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, and RAID 1 only.
Step up to a 4-bay model if you need RAID 5, RAID 6, or RAID 10, expect capacity to outgrow a single drive pair, or plan to serve multiple simultaneous users and large media libraries. Compare UGREEN NAS models to see the trade-offs.
No. The DXP2800 is a diskless NAS—HDDs and SSDs are sold separately. Its two SATA bays accept 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drives. Its two M.2 NVMe SSD slots can be used for SSD caching or as a separate SSD storage pool.
Maximum supported capacity is up to 80TB, using two 32TB SATA drives plus two 8TB M.2 SSDs. This is total raw installed capacity across the SATA and M.2 storage; it is not the usable capacity of a single RAID 1 array.
For a RAID 1 array, use two matched CMR NAS drives where possible. You can install different capacities, but RAID 1 usable capacity is limited by the smaller drive. Mixing old and new drives in the same array is not recommended, because rebuilding onto a new drive can place sustained load on the older one. Before buying, look up your exact drive, SSD, or memory model in the UGREEN NAS compatibility list before buying.
Choose RAID 1 if the data matters. It mirrors data to both drives, so one drive can fail without immediately losing the array.
The DXP2800 supports Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, and RAID 1. RAID 0 provides the combined capacity of both drives, but any one-drive failure loses the array. Basic and JBOD also do not provide drive-failure redundancy. RAID is not a backup; keep a separate copy of important data. Use the UGREEN RAID Calculator to estimate capacity for your exact drive sizes.
Yes. The DXP2800 includes 8GB memory and officially supports expansion up to 16GB. More memory can help when you run several Docker containers, virtual machines, indexing tasks, or other services at the same time.
Yes. The DXP2800 supports Docker and virtual machines, and Plex can run in Docker. Its Intel N100 processor is suitable for home media, backups, photo management, and a sensible number of concurrent services.
The DXP2800 is rated at 16.38W during drive access and 5.24W during drive hibernation(This power consumption data was measured by UGREEN’s lab using a Seagate 2TB hard drive.) .
Actual wall-power use depends on the installed drives, RAID activity, cooling, network traffic, and background applications.
Choose the DXP2800 when you need an x86 Intel N100 processor, 2.5GbE networking, two M.2 NVMe slots, expandable memory, and headroom for Docker or virtual-machine workloads. Choose the DH2300 for straightforward home backup, photo management, and everyday file storage where advanced expansion isn’t a priority.
Both are two-bay models, but they aren’t equivalent: the DXP2800’s x86 processor and 2.5GbE networking give it the application and speed headroom the DH2300’s ARM processor and 1GbE don’t. If you’re choosing by workflow rather than specs, use the NAS Selector.
Select DXP2800 in the UGREEN NAS Download Center to access product documentation, firmware, desktop and mobile clients, applications, and applicable drivers. Always select the exact model before downloading firmware.
The DXP2800 is a strong fit for home users who need two SATA bays, 2.5GbE networking, M.2 SSD caching or separate SSD storage, expandable memory, and enough processing headroom for Docker, virtual machines, photo management, backups, or a personal media server.
Choose another model if you need more than two SATA bays, RAID 5 or RAID 6, 10GbE networking, or higher capacity. You can filter the full UGREEN NAS lineup by exactly those specifications—browse and filter UGREEN NAS models.
