Choose NAS Storage Capacity by Drive Bays and RAID

The maximum capacity shown for a UGREEN NASync is its supported raw capacity—not the space you will necessarily be able to use after configuring RAID.

With two 8TB drives in RAID 1, approximately 8TB remains usable because the second drive mirrors the first.

UGOS Pro also reserves approximately 16GB—about 15.3GiB—for system partitioning. The final capacity will be slightly lower because drive manufacturers measure capacity in decimal terabytes, while operating systems may display binary units, and the file system also requires space for metadata.

Two-bay models such as the DH2300 and DXP2800 support Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, and RAID 1. Four-bay and larger models add options such as RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10. Use the UGREEN RAID Calculator to estimate the result for your exact drive count, drive size, and RAID level.

NAS Storage for Home Backup and Media

Choose the DH2300 for straightforward household backup and photo management, the DH4300 Plus when you need four SATA bays and more RAID flexibility, or the DXP2800 when application support and hardware expansion matter more than having four hard-drive bays.

  • DH2300 is a 2-bay NAS supporting up to 64TB from two 32TB SATA drives. It includes 4GB LPDDR4X memory, 1GbE networking, 4K HDMI output, automatic phone photo and video backup, AI photo organization, Time Machine support, and DLNA media playback. It does not support Docker.
  • DH4300 Plus increases capacity to 128TB across four SATA bays and adds 8GB LPDDR4X memory, 2.5GbE networking, and RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10 support. It supports Docker, but not virtual machines.
  • DXP2800 is a more expandable 2-bay option. Its two SATA bays and two M.2 slots support up to 80TB in total. It uses an Intel N100 processor, includes 8GB DDR5 memory expandable to 16GB, provides 2.5GbE networking, and supports Docker and virtual machines.

  • DXP2800 GT: A 4-core, 8-thread AMD Ryzen Embedded R2514 processor. Its 8GB DDR4 memory can be expanded to 64GB, and its 10GbE port provides the network bandwidth needed for large photo catalogs, video projects.
  • DXP4800 GT: It provides four SATA bays, two M.2 NVMe slots, and dual 10GbE ports. The first two bays also support optional U.2 NVMe drives for high-speed active storage.
  • DXP4800 Plus: It uses a 5-core, 6-thread Intel Pentium Gold 8505 processor, includes 8GB DDR5 memory expandable to 64GB, and provides both 10GbE and 2.5GbE network ports.

Performance for Creators: Choose the NAS That Matches Your Workflow

Private Cloud Storage with Remote Access

UGOS Pro provides three practical remote-access approaches, but they are not equivalent.

  • UGREENlink is the simplest option. It does not require a public IP address or manual router port forwarding. Enabling UGREENlink, users can access the NAS through a browser or the UGREEN NAS applications for Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.
  • DDNS allows access through a custom domain name but requires a publicly reachable IP address, router configuration, and port forwarding. It provides more control but also places more responsibility on the administrator to secure the exposed services.
  • Tailscale creates a private mesh network without directly publishing the NAS management interface to the internet. On UGREEN NAS, it is deployed through Docker, so it requires a Docker-capable model and more technical setup than UGREENlink.

Whichever method is used, enable two-factor authentication, use strong passwords, keep UGOS Pro and installed applications updated, and give each user only the permissions they require.
