No. The DH2300 is a diskless NAS — storage drives are sold separately. It has two SATA bays supporting up to 32TB per bay, for 64TB of raw capacity with two 32TB drives. There are no M.2 slots, so all storage is SATA.
For RAID 1, use two matched CMR NAS-rated drives (such as WD Red Plus or Seagate IronWolf) and avoid SMR drives. Two 32TB drives in RAID 1 give roughly 32TB usable, since capacity mirrors to the smaller drive. Before buying, look up your exact drive in the UGREEN NAS compatibility list.
With two matching 8TB drives, RAID 1 provides about 8TB of usable capacity and protection against one drive failure. RAID 0 provides about 16TB but has no drive-failure protection; JBOD also combines capacity without redundancy, while Basic keeps each drive as a separate volume. No. The DH2300 does not currently have official Docker support and does not support virtual machines. Do not buy it for Docker-dependent services such as Plex Server, Home Assistant, or most self-hosted applications; unofficial installations are outside the supported configuration and can affect stability. For direct home playback, the DH2300 supports 4K HDMI output and DLNA.
Partly. The DH2300 handles photo and video storage, automatic phone backup, organization, and sharing without a monthly subscription — but it isn’t a one-for-one replacement. You manage the system yourself, remote access depends on your internet connection and UGREENlink, and phone operating systems can pause background uploads.
Keep a second copy. A NAS in your home is a single location: RAID protects against a drive failure, not fire, theft, or accidental deletion. Treat the NAS as your primary library and keep an off-site or cloud backup of anything irreplaceable.

Yes. Enable SMB and Bonjour in UGOS Pro, create a dedicated shared folder, and set it as the Time Machine destination on your Mac.
