Frequently Asked Questions About UGREEN DXP4800 Pro
The DXP4800 Pro is the more powerful four-bay model. It replaces the Plus model's 5-core, 6-thread Intel Pentium Gold 8505 with a 6-core, 8-thread Intel Core i3-1315U, which uses a hybrid design of two performance cores and four efficiency cores. It also raises maximum memory from 64GB to 96GB.
Both models provide four SATA bays, two M.2 slots, a 128GB system SSD, one 10GbE port, one 2.5GbE port, and up to 144TB of supported raw capacity. Choose the Pro when Docker containers, virtual machines, media processing, indexing, and multi-user transfers will run concurrently. Compare UGREEN NAS models side by side for a full hardware breakdown.
The DXP4800 Pro includes 8GB of DDR5 memory and supports expansion up to 96GB across two SODIMM slots. The installed 8GB is sufficient for storage, backup, and lighter applications, while multiple containers, virtual machines, databases, or heavier indexing workloads may benefit from additional memory.
Not every DDR5 module is validated for this model. Before purchasing memory, check the UGREEN NAS compatibility list by selecting the DXP4800 Pro and the relevant accessory category.
You need a 10GbE-capable client adapter, a 10GbE switch or direct connection, suitable Ethernet cabling (Cat6a, or Cat6 for short runs), and storage at both ends that can sustain the required throughput. A 2.5GbE client or a single hard drive cannot deliver 10GbE transfer performance.
The theoretical 10GbE line rate is 1.25GB/s, but protocol overhead, RAID configuration, drive speed, file size, and concurrent workloads reduce real transfer speeds. If the network is underperforming, follow these steps to troubleshoot slow NAS transfers.
No. The DXP4800 Pro is diskless, so SATA drives and M.2 SSDs are sold separately. Its maximum supported raw capacity is 144TB, using four 32TB SATA drives plus two 8TB M.2 SSDs. The M.2 SSDs can be configured for caching or as a separate SSD storage pool — capacity assigned to cache does not become general file-storage capacity.
With four matching 8TB SATA drives, usable capacity before system, file-system, and unit-conversion overhead is approximately:
RAID 5
Usable capacity: ~24 TB
Drive failures tolerated: Any single drive
Rebuild behavior: Parity reconstruction across all remaining drives
RAID 6
Usable capacity: ~16 TB
Drive failures tolerated: Any two drives
Rebuild behavior: Parity reconstruction across all remaining drives
RAID 10
Usable capacity: ~16 TB
Drive failures tolerated: One always; a second only if the two failures are in different mirror pairs
Rebuild behavior: Copied directly from the surviving mirror, generally faster and simpler
RAID 6 and RAID 10 give the same approximate capacity with four equal drives but differ in protection and recovery. Use the UGREEN RAID Calculator to compare configurations before buying drives.
Yes. Plex and Jellyfin can run in Docker on the DXP4800 Pro, and its Intel Core i3-1315U provides Quick Sync hardware acceleration. Plex is not currently presented as a preinstalled native UGOS Pro application.
Plex hardware-accelerated streaming requires an active Plex Pass and access to the Intel graphics device from the container.
Follow the UGREEN NAS Plex setup guide for the Docker installation workflow.
UGREEN lists 42.36W during drive access and 18.12W during drive hibernation (This power consumption data was measured by UGREEN’s lab using a Seagate 2TB hard drive).
Actual power use depends on the number and type of SATA drives, M.2 SSDs, drive startup, network activity, Docker containers, virtual machines, indexing, cooling and hibernation settings.
